Rules & Regulations

Code of Ethics

By completing the “Membership Application Form”, the Members automatically accept IFN Code of Ethics.

Respecting the following Code of Conduct is essential to maintain high professionalism, efficiency and transparency within the Network. Non-compliance or disregard for the following rules will result in disciplinary action.

Members Violate

What Happens When Members Violate the Code of Ethics?

IFN takes breaches of its code of ethics and membership rules seriously. The network's enforcement mechanisms include:

Monthly monitoring of payment behaviour across all active members. Direct intervention by IFN management when payment issues arise. Formal warning notices to members with outstanding obligations. Probation periods for members who have had payment issues resolved — monitored closely for three months. Public listing on the IFN blacklisted members register for members who fail to meet their financial or professional obligations.

The blacklisted members register is visible to all IFN members and updated regularly — ensuring every member can check the standing of a network partner before conducting business.

Protection

Financial Protection — What the Rules Mean in Practice

IFN's rules establish the framework that makes the Financial Protection Plan (FPP) work. Key practical points for members:

All overdue invoices must be reported through the FPP Alert system within 60 days of the invoice date to remain eligible for coverage. IFN sends monthly reminders to all members to review open invoices from network partners.

Business offsets must have statements submitted by the 10th of each month. Any amounts passing the 60-day overdue mark must be reported to the IFN Coordinator immediately.

Payment of all accounts must be settled within 30 days from the date of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing. Delays by the shipper or consignee are not an acceptable reason for non-payment to a fellow IFN member.

Basic FPP coverage is included with all memberships — $2,000 for Premium members, $5,000 for Gold members. Full FPP Coverage (up to $30,000) is available as an optional upgrade for $500/year.
